PROCEDURE

1.    Using the scissors cut the string off the tea bag and remove the bags top and bottom.

2.    Pour the tea leaves onto the saucer and heap them into a mound.

3.    Open the bag into a rounded shape. Place it on the mound in an upright position. Do not push the bag into the leaves.

4.    Light the tea bag at the top and allow it to burn all the way to the bottom.

5.    Watch what happens

6.    Repeat the procedure for the assortment of tea bags. Note any changes.

Notes:

· Have students Predict what will happen each time, Observe the findings and Explain the results.

· Assist the students with their reasoning, but let them arrive at the explanation themselves.
