Context: This unit is suitable for year 8 students, but has been used in year 9 classes. Many resources are available via internet.

Key Idea: Students select and use observational instruments and digital electronic technologies to develop understandings about structures and events in the universe. They appraise and share opinions about the ethics of space exploration.

Students understand their place in the solar system, their Milky Way Galaxy and the Universe. They identify major features of the night sky and recognise constellations. Students prepare a power point presentation suitable for an audience of year 7 and 8 students on an aspect of space science or astronomy that interests them. It must be educational and contain accurate information.
