FINAL TASK: Design an energy efficient house

Suggestions for inclusion in design and report

• Estimate savings in costs of providing energy to the energy efficient house

• Collect information on the costs and environmental effects of using different forms of energy for the energy efficient house

• House design to include ways of using natural light instead of artificially produced lighting

• Identify and name processes of energy transfer in everyday situations, using terms like heating, conduction, convection and radiation

• Classify materials by their ability to conduct current, such as the use of dimmer switches or globes

• Investigate devices found in the home which convert one form of energy to another (eg. solar heater, gas heater)

• Explain orientation and shape of house to provide optimum conditions for energy efficiency
