COMMENTS:
Many students will not be able to come up with an aspect to investigate until they have read and thought more about an energy efficient house. Allow them time to get involved, and guide their thinking towards a laboratory scale investigation. Some students think macro scale about insulation in model (cardboard box) houses, and temperature measurement, but can be convinced, with encouragement, that they only need to test out an idea to support their energy efficient project. Some investigations included: Effects of curtains on windows, orientation of windows to sun, difference in insulation between brick and brick veneer, double glazing.
