Recognising SA’s Top Scientists, Innovators & Educators
Applications are now open for the 2025 South Australian Science Excellence and Innovation Awards, celebrating outstanding contributions in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM).
For 21 years, these awards have recognised scientists, researchers, innovators, and educators whose work has delivered significant social, economic, health, and environmental benefits for South Australia and beyond.
New Award Categories in 2025
This year, two new changes have been introduced:
- Mid-Career STEMM Professional of the Year – Recognising emerging leaders excelling in STEMM research and innovation.
- Excellence in Collaborative Innovation – A new category that merges two previous awards, acknowledging teams that have worked across different industries to solve major societal challenges.
Award Categories
Applications are open in the following categories:
- South Australian Scientist of the Year
- PhD Research Excellence
- Excellence in Collaborative Innovation
- Mid-Career STEMM Professional of the Year
- STEMM Educator of the Year – School Teaching
- STEMM Educator of the Year – Tertiary Teaching
Award Prizes
- $25,000 for the South Australian Scientist of the Year
- $10,000 for winners in all other categories
