At Clarendon Primary School we Decoded the Universe for Science Week hosting our annual Clarendon Primary Science Fair, guess the photo wall and our Clarendon Escape Room on Thursday 14th August. Students shared projects that they had made for the Oliphant Science Awards and projects specially made for this fair with the rest of the school and the wider community. This year our judges were Bob from Balanced Habitats and Suzanne, our former middle primary teacher! Everyone enjoyed sharing the science behind their project, how they made it and demonstrating how it all worked. The winners will be announced shortly in a special assembly, with some amazing prizes to be shared.

The community was invited into our library for the Clarendon Escape Room after school. There were many stations set up around the Science Week theme, Decoding the Universe. Families had to solve the puzzles to check on Schrodinger’s Cat in the locked box before receiving a prize and escaping the library! This challenge puzzled students, siblings and parents alike, with cool quantum science answers and codes.

As always in Science Week, we had our weeklong, Guess the Photo wall, where pictures from scanning electron microscopes were put up for students to guess what they were. Everyone has been challenged and only 1 day was successfully guessed by successful scientists.

These events were made possible thanks to a National Science Week grant.
