Inspire your students to shape Australia’s energy future!
The Powering Up the Future Competition by Snowy Hydro invites students to invent a bold new idea, technology or system that saves or reuses energy to help lower emissions. Entries should include:

• A 1–2 minute video, and
• A 200-word (or equivalent) explanation of the idea.

This nationwide competition is open to all Australian school students and offers prizes valued up to $3,000 for winning students and their schools.

ACARA-aligned teacher resources are also available to support lesson planning and guide students through the design-thinking process for both junior and senior categories.

Key Dates:

• Submissions open: Monday 4 August 2025 (8:00am AEST)
• Submissions close: Sunday 28 September 2025 (Midnight AEST)
• Community voting: 6–20 October 2025
• Winners announced: Monday 27 October 2025
