Nominations open for the 2026 Prime Minister’s Prizes for Science on Wednesday 22 October, celebrating Australia’s most outstanding achievements in science, innovation, and science teaching.

The prizes recognise the work of leading scientists, innovators and teachers who are shaping Australia’s scientific future. Alongside the research and innovation awards, two national prizes celebrate excellence in science teaching:

  • Prime Minister’s Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in Primary Schools
  • Prime Minister’s Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in Secondary Schools

These awards honour teachers who ignite curiosity, foster scientific thinking, and make a lasting impact on their students and school communities.

Nominations close 8 pm (AEDT) Tuesday 11 February 2026.

Teachers, colleagues and school leaders are encouraged to nominate educators who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and innovation in science education.
