The Australian Science and Engineering Fair (AUSSEF) is looking for the top Year 9–12 STEM projects from across the country. There’s no entry fee, and the top nine projects will win an all-expenses-paid trip to Phoenix, Arizona, to represent Australia at the 2026 International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).

Student project entries
Students can submit individual or team projects across 22 categories, including:

  • Animal, Plant & Environmental Sciences
  • Chemistry, Biomedical & Translational Medical Science
  • Energy, Robotics, and Embedded Systems
  • Computer Science, Bioinformatics, and Engineering

Projects should demonstrate creativity, innovation, and scientific rigour.

Key dates

  • Entries close: Wednesday 12 November 2025
  • Stage 1 judging: Monday 17 – Wednesday 26 November 2025

Judges needed
Teachers are invited to join the online judging panel – a valuable PD opportunity for those working with or planning to support student STEM projects. Each judge reviews up to six projects, with brief Zoom sessions at the start and finish.

Priority judging areas include: Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Embedded Systems, Environmental Engineering, Microbiology, Plant Sciences, and Energy: Sustainable Materials & Design.
