It’s turtle nesting season, and your help is needed to identify nesting hotspots along the River Murray to guide future conservation action.

Teachers and educators are invited to take part in these hands-on field sessions, learning to identify turtle nests, record data using the TurtleSAT app, and explore how turtle conservation can be used as a classroom learning opportunity. A PD certificate will be provided for participating teachers.

Each session includes:

  • Introduction to 1 Million Turtles, TurtleSAT, and the Murraylands & Riverland Landscape Board
  • Nest surveying along the water’s edge (approx. 2 hours walking)
  • Refreshments and discussion on using turtle conservation in the classroom

These sessions are weather-dependent and will be rescheduled if the fire danger rating is Extreme or Catastrophic.
