2013 Video & Image Analysis in Physics
Introduction
- This “hands on” workshop is the introduction of video and photography analysis in Physics. Using the free software “Tracker” from the Open Source Physics project, students are able to collect calibrated measurement data from recording practicals for post analysis in spread sheets.
- The purpose of this workshop is directed around participants acquiring computing skills necessary for deployment of this methodology at their school site.
Who should attend?
- Teachers of senior Physics 10-12 with basic computing skills.

Workshop content
- Introduction on software use
- Participants using the software on example videos on Projectile motion.
- How Marryatville HS has deployed video and recording, setting up, problems and issues.
- Open discussion of errors of analysis.
- Demonstration of the software use on images specifically for the Teltron tube and Diffraction practicals.
- Open discussion of implications for the Stage 1 & 2 curriculum.
Learning outcomes for participants
- Participants to have a working knowledge of the use of the software for implementation at their site.
- Continual/additional Workshops can be run based on demand, on a fortnightly basis
Additional notes
- Please bring a USB drive and USB mouse (optional, however preferable)
- Laptops are supplied.
- Drinks and nibbles supplied.
