Register: STANSW – Evaluating Energy Facts

Join STANSW for Session 3 of this professional learning pilot series, developed in partnership with University of California Berkeley, Nobel Prize Outreach, and Global Access Partners.

This session explores how students can apply critical thinking strategies to evaluate the credibility of information, focusing on claims related to renewable energy.

Participants will be introduced to an activity that uses lateral reading to assess sources and supports students in:

  • Evaluating accuracy, reliability, and validity
  • Distinguishing fact from value
  • Communicating scientific ideas effectively
  • Making informed decisions using scientific tools

Based on UC Berkeley’s Scientific Thinking for All – A Toolkit, the session provides practical strategies and free resources to use directly in the classroom.

This event is ideal for science teachers looking to strengthen students’ scientific literacy and inquiry skills in real-world contexts.
