What do you have planned for National Science Week this year?

Check out some of the great activities we've come across (we will continue to update this in the lead up to National Science Week). Let us know what you have planned to feature on our National Science Week round-up blog!

Plus don't forget to check out the National Science Week website for all upcoming events and the Teacher Resource Book from the Australian Science Teachers Association. Members can also view the most recent edition of the SASTA Journal online here, which relates to the National Science Week theme.

Grow 4 Launch: Reimagine Food in Space

Join the Grow 4 Launch program and explore the future of food in space with a free STEM research kit from Plants for Space. Running from 24 June to 17 August, this hands-on experiment invites students to become ‘space farmers’—growing astro seeds in hydroponics, testing sustainable growth conditions, and contributing recipes or sci-fi stories to a Community Space Food Cookbook. Kits include seeds, hydroponic units, test strips, experiment guides, and more. Register online to receive your kit and take part in this exciting mission to feed the future of space travel.

Plants in Space

Join the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plants for Space, the Australian Space Discovery Centre, and the Adelaide Botanic Gardens for Plants in Space—a free, hands-on STEM event for students in Years 5–8. Held on Tuesday 5 August at Lot Fourteen, students will take on the role of astrobotanists, designing space plants, managing life on Mars in a BioDome simulation, and learning how to grow nutritious food for astronauts. Teachers or parents must accompany students. A truly out-of-this-world experience for National Science Week!
