Looking for an engaging, hands-on resource to introduce crystallography and molecular structures in your classroom? The Crystal Explorer Kits have been designed specifically for primary schools, offering a fun and accessible way to explore science through student-led construction activities.

Created by the Society of Crystallographers in Australia and New Zealand, these kits were developed following their successful world record–breaking crystal model project (over 60,000 atoms!). Each kit includes:

  • A teaching booklet with instructions for four different molecular structures
  • Materials to support collaborative student activities
  • Links to free lesson plans and videos online

Perfect for small or regional schools, these kits are available free of charge while supplies last. There are 600 kits remaining, and distribution is open now.

This initiative also aims to build a network of primary science educators. If you're passionate about science education and interested in future projects, make sure to connect via their website.
