Nominate a young person in Years 5-10 to build confidence, capability, and connection with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) with an amazing support package.

Young Future Shapers can discover new interests and career ideas, meet other young people and participate in confidence-boosting activities.

In this free program, 30x Young Future Shapers will be selected to get a personalised plan, attend virtual events and activities, and choose to:

  • Meet like-minded kids and experts at a multi-day STEM camp; or
  • Go on a local learning adventure of their choosing; or
  • Create their own resource pack of technology or STEM equipment.

Who are our Young Future Shapers

Nominees do not necessarily need to be at the top of their class. We are looking for students who have something of an interest in STEM that we can help to draw out and develop further.

Girls; Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students; those from regional or lower opportunity areas are underrepresented in STEM. We prioritise opportunities for nominees who identify with one or more of these groups.

Future Shapers is not designed for students that have access to additional STEM learning support and resources, such as specialist projects, competitions, or awards.

What you need to know about nominating

  • the young person needs to answer at least one question in the nomination form
  • Parental consent is required for nominations
  • All costs of Young Future Shaper experiences are covered by the program
  • Parents can nominate their children (unless the parent works for CSIRO, BHP Foundation or BHP).
