National Science Week 2026 was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate the incredible world God has created. With this year’s theme, “Seeds of Science – Nurturing Knowledge for All,” our Year 7 students explored seed dispersal through a design challenge, while Year 8 students investigated seed structure through a hands-on dissection practical. Primary students created seed shapes using recycled paper mixed with a variety of seeds, with the goal of growing butterfly-friendly flowers that nurture biodiversity. The wider community also came together for an exciting Science Quiz Night, featuring building challenges, a LEGO satellite building station, sherbet making, a Van de Graaff demonstration and more.

Finally, we were privileged to welcome a guest speaker, Dr Paul Joyce from the University of Adelaide, who shared his work in translational nanomedicine and biotherapeutics and inspired our students to consider the exciting possibilities of a future in science. Through every experiment, challenge and discovery, we were reminded of the incredible complexity of God’s creation and the privilege we have to explore, understand and care for the world around us.
