Science excellence recognised in 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours
Lifelong contributions to society through the sciences and education in South Australia have been recognised and celebrated through this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Recipients of Order of Australia honours include:
Professor Isabella Caroline McMillen AO
Professor McMillen, Chief Scientist for South Australia and Patron of SASTA, is made an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to medical science, and to tertiary education, to the community of South Australia, and to social equity.
Professor Graham Lorimer Moseley AO
Professor Moseley, Chair in Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia, is made an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to medical research and science communication, to education, to the study of pain and its management, and to physiotherapy
Professor Marcello Costa AO
Professor Costa, Professor of Neurophysiology, is made an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to higher education, and to medical research, in the field of neurophysiology, and to professional scientific bodies.
Dr Neil Lyall Bryans AM
Dr Bryans is made a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to science and defence capability technology through radar and telecommunications research.
Dr Jackie Craig AM
Dr Craig is made a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to science and technology research in the defence capability field.
Professor Adrian Linacre OAM
Professor Linacre, Chair in Forensic DNA Technology at Flinders University, is awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to forensic science.
Mrs Carolyn Moule OAM
The late Carolyn Moule of Adelaide is posthumously awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to education, and to mathematics. During her time as Executive Officer of the Mathematical Association of South Australia, Carol worked collaboratively with SASTA particularly in developing the STEM Conference for middle years teachers which is a joint initative between MASA & SASTA.
