We asked our science community to let us know which teaching resources they would recommend to every early career science teacher. Below you can find a list of peer-suggested resources to help you at the start of your teaching journey.
Primary Connections
Primary Connections is the Australian Academy of Science's flagship primary science program to enhance teachers’ confidence and capability for teaching science.
Explore all-online primary science teaching sequences for the Australian Curriculum V9 as well as AC V8.4 resources, plus embedded support for understanding key ideas and pedagogical practices.

Royal Society of Chemistry
The Royal Society of Chemistry are a useful international source of chemistry teaching resources. Their website includes a wide range of free lesson ideas, practical activities and articles that support chemistry teaching and help connect classroom learning to real-world science and careers.

Ediacaran Teacher Scholarship to the Flinders Ranges
The Flinders Ranges Ediacara Foundation in conjunction with SASTA, offer 9 teacher scholarships to the Flinders Ranges to explore the Nilpena Ediacara National Park and surrounding areas with experts in the field to increase student engagement and learning about Ediacara in the classroom.
The 2026 trip will take place in the July school holidays with more details to come soon. In the meantime, have a look at the below Ediacara resources.

Stile Education

Primary Industries Education Foundation Australia
The Primary Industries Education Foundation Australia (PIEFA) provides a range of free, Australian Curriculum-aligned resources that explore food and fibre production across Foundation to Year 12. Their materials include ready-to-use lessons, interactive online courses and videos that link science learning to real-world contexts. PIEFA also offers career-focused resources and virtual connections with industry, helping students understand where science fits in Australia’s primary industries.

CK12
CK-12 is a free online platform with a wide range of open-access STEM resources, including interactive lessons, videos, readings and practice activities. Materials can be customised to suit different year levels and learning needs, and many include formative checks and teacher guides.

PhET
PhET offers free, interactive science and maths simulations developed by the University of Colorado Boulder. These browser-based activities let students explore concepts like forces, energy, light and atoms through hands-on, visual interaction. Many simulations include teacher tips, worksheets and inquiry prompts, making them easy to drop into lessons to support understanding and engagement.

Amplify Classroom Activities
Amplify Classroom is a free online teaching platform with a large library of interactive lessons and activities across science, maths and literacy. You can browse ready-made activities, adjust them for your class or build your own using simple digital tools, and see how students are thinking in real time with teacher dashboards. It’s designed to support engaging, hands-on learning without needing to create everything from scratch.

Woodside Australian Science Project
The Woodside Australian Science Project (WASP) produces support packages for the Earth Science component of the Australian Curriculum. These packages are filled with hands-on activities for students, with teacher support materials. WASP has also developled a number of interactives such as quizzes and animations.

OpenStax offers free, peer-reviewed textbooks and learning materials across science and other subjects. Their books are designed to be high quality and classroom ready, and you can use them as core texts, references or supplements to your existing planning.
