The Future Health Leaders Program (FHL), delivered by Research Australia in partnership with AbbVie, is returning for 2026. This national initiative supports female Year 11 students to explore pathways into leadership in health and medical research.

The program is designed to address the underrepresentation of women in science and healthcare leadership by empowering students to continue their STEM education and consider future careers in the life sciences.

What’s included:
Participants take part in an Immersion Day in Canberra, featuring:

  • Opportunities to connect with leading women across research, clinical practice, policy and industry
  • A formal session at Australian Parliament House, meeting MPs and Senators with STEM and health portfolios
  • A visit to CSIRO Black Mountain, including hands-on activities with researchers
  • Ongoing opportunities beyond the event, including mentoring and access to the Future Health Leaders Alumni Program

This is a valuable opportunity for students interested in STEM to gain insight into real-world careers and build connections with leaders in the field.

Schools are encouraged to share this opportunity with eligible students and families.
