Expressions of Interest are now open for Mission Sprouts, a national initiative led by 2026 Australian of the Year Katherine Bennell-Pegg in partnership with the Australian Space Agency, Swinburne University and the National Australia Day Council.
Mission Sprouts gives schools the opportunity to receive one of up to 1,000 free classroom experiment kits, allowing students to investigate and compare the growth of seeds that have travelled to the International Space Station and back.
Designed for classrooms, the hands-on investigation helps students develop inquiry, observation and critical thinking skills while exploring how space research can contribute to future space missions and improve life on Earth. Each kit includes supporting online teaching resources.
Schools from across Australia, including regional, remote and under-represented communities, are encouraged to apply.
