National Science Week was launched at Annesley Junior School with our annual School Science Fair. The Year 6 students proudly hosted a day filled with exploration, discovery and hands-on learning. Each session began with an exciting whole-group demonstration of fizzy rockets and bottle rockets, capturing the attention of visiting classes and setting the stage for an energetic celebration of science. Students then presented a wide range of investigations and activities, including balloon hovercrafts, homemade sherbet, bounceable bubbles, density layers, taste tests, foil boats and catapults. Their enthusiasm and confidence were on full display as they explained scientific concepts and encouraged visitors to get involved.

Throughout the day, every class had the opportunity to visit the fair, creating a buzzing atmosphere of excitement, curiosity and fun. The room was filled with lively discussion, laughter and the sounds of students testing, building, tasting and experimenting alongside one another. It was wonderful to see so many young scientists sharing their knowledge and passion while inspiring others to ask questions, make predictions and explore the world around them. The Science Fair was a great beginning to National Science Week and fantastic showcase of student learning, demonstrating that science is not only educational but also engaging, creative and highly enjoyable.
