Premier's Reading Challenge
Inspiring a Love of Reading Through STEM
SASTA is proud to sponsor the Premier's Reading Challenge STEM Competition, an initiative that encourages students to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics through reading, creativity and inquiry.
Since 2021, SASTA has supported the STEM Competition, helping to inspire students to engage with STEM concepts through books, research and communication.
The challenge provides students with an opportunity to connect their reading experiences with STEM learning, demonstrating that science and literacy go hand in hand.
About the STEM Competition
The Premier's Reading Challenge STEM Competition invites students to draw inspiration from books they have read and create a project that explores a STEM concept, idea or issue.
Students are encouraged to think creatively, investigate scientific ideas and communicate their understanding in engaging ways. Entries often showcase innovation, problem-solving and a passion for learning.
The challenge supports the development of literacy, critical thinking and STEM skills while encouraging students to explore the connections between science and the wider world.
Celebrating Student Achievement
Each year, outstanding entries are recognised and celebrated, highlighting the creativity and scientific thinking of students from across South Australia.
Winning projects are also showcased at Science Alive! as part of the SASTA exhibition space, providing students with an opportunity to share their work with the broader community and inspire other young learners.
Supporting STEM Learning
SASTA values opportunities that encourage students to engage with STEM in different ways. By sponsoring the Premier's Reading Challenge STEM Competition, we are helping to foster curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning.
The challenge demonstrates that great STEM learning can begin with a great book.
